Tartan and Red Coats in Scotland

I maybe forgot that I had found all of the items for the look that Catherine wore on Day 2 of her mini-trip to Scotland a few weeks ago.  It may finally warming up but I would hate to withhold items you may be looking for- so here goes.

The lovely Duchess accessorized her Armani coat with items that we have seen before.  So to not sound like a broken record here are fresh look at her accessories.

We start with her Kiki McDonough green amethyst oval drop earrings.  Another name for this stone is green Beryl or Prasiolite- this might help you in your own search if this aren't what you are looking for.

This pair of earrings below features a checkerboard rectangular cut Prasiolite stone in a diamond accent setting.

Here is a photo to give you a better idea of the scale of the earrings.

With an impressive 5.80 total carat weight in Prasiolite these are a substantial pair of earrings for those of you who don't love the oval shape of Catherine's earrings are want something in a silver-tone setting.

These earrings can be purchased for $59.99 from JTV.com.

Tied around her neck is a Strathearn #2 (Modern Colours) Tartan scarf that is made out of silk (but can be ordered in many items from ScotWeb.co.uk).

We have seen this scarf folded up several times before this was out first chance to see it in "action."

This "Artisan Hand-Woven Spun Silk Long Scarf" can be purchased for $315.00 from ScotWeb.co.uk.

She finished the look off with her as of yet unidentified black suede clutch with grosgrain ribbon bow detailing.

The "Strathearn Clutch - Grosgrain Ribbon Bow on Black Faux Suede" includes a donation to EACH with it's purchase from ClutchMeKate's Etsy.com storefront for $120.00.

Now for the meat of the look.  I will start with my ideas on what you can wear underneath the red coat that has a similar neckline and fabric hand to what we can see in the picture.

For those of us not actually pregnant my option is this dress from Karen Kane.

6PM.com

We get the long sleeves (since we know it was cold in Scotland) the neckline and the black jersey knit fabric that I would bet money on that Catherine's dress was made out of.

The Karen Kane "3/4 Sleeve Shirred Dress" can be purchased for $69.99 from 6PM.com.

For the pregnant ladies out there Target had an excellent option.

Target.com

This Liz Lange® for Target® "Maternity Long-Sleeve Ponte Dress" in Black has the boat neck top and long sleeves you would want for the chilly air in Scotland and here at home as well. And for $17.48 from Target.com, it is a steal as well.

Finally for the red coat.  This was a hard one since the detailing on the Armani coat is so very fine but I think what I found hits the right balance between price and RepliKate-ness.

happyfamilyjudy

This coat from happyfamilyjudy on Etsy.com comes in the beautiful red shade of the Duchess' coat and even includes the single button closing.  Now there are a few extra details but the overall silhouette is strikingly similar.  As with all things Etsy it is always possible to contact the seller and see if they will make any modification that you might want tailoring this coat even closer to the Armani inspiration.

At $88.99 this coat can be yours!

Now the final pieces to the puzzle.  Tights and boots.  I prefer Pretty Polly's 100 Denier Opaques as they are quite warm and not sheer AT ALL and don't make sunny patterns when they are pulled on.

Pretty Polly

Pick up your pair in Black for $12.00 from PrettyPollyUSA.com.

The Duchess' trusty Aquatalia "Rhumba" boots were the end to this sartorial tale.  I have posted these before but below are my RepliKates. And when I say they are for wide calves- I am not playing around.  With my 17.5 inch calves these comfortably fit over skinny jeans and tights.  They are still available in select sizes at DSW.com.

These Audrey Brooke "Wynne Wide Calf Boot" can be purchased for $79.94 from DSW.com.

I loved seeing the scarf on full display but thought wearing a red jacket in Scotland wasn't the best color choice but it seemed that nobody minded too much.

What do you think of her cold weather choice in Scotland?

Till next time- happy shopping!
