A Teal Dress to Liven Up Your Workday

               There are many things in Catherine's "Professional" wardrobe that have little translation to my own everyday professional life.  One of the few exceptions to this is the LK Bennett ensemble that she wore while visiting Leicester with the Queen and Prince Phillip.  

She topped her ensemble off with a floral beret style hat from Lock & Co. Usually I am not able to RepliKate the Duchess' hats but there is a wonderful Etsy seller that has quite a few of her hats for sale.

I know that the Kiki McDonough earrings that Catherine received from William for Christmas have oft been RepliKated and even I have given several options but I found the following earrings a few weeks ago and think they are an interesting take on the look if yellow gold and all that bling is not your thing but you love the color of the stones.

The meat of the look is the teal "Davina" dress and "Jude" Peplum jacket.  In this dress you take the peplum of the jacket and make it part of the dress into one piece.

Catherine replace the original belt that came with the peplum jacket with another suede belt with a gold buckle.  For whatever reason si was feeling more mono-chromatic in my RepliKate-ing.  I found the following cinch belt on Amazon.  It has a suede from and elastic in the back.

The black suede clutch with that cute little bow is the bane of my RepliKate-ing existence.  Once day I will find the perfect match that is not $900.

A Rorschach Evening Look

               I know that there have been a few shared RepliKates for the Prabal Gurung Rorschach dress that she wore while on tour but this evening on Target.com I think I have found my favorite so far.  

This floral print follows the Rorschach theme as well as the purple and white colors in the original Prabal Gurung dress.  There are a couple of things that I like about this dress that make it different from the original but still the same idea.  I love the V shaped neckline as this draw the eyes up to the face, the cap sleeves are a bit more forgiving size wise compared to the half-sleeves on the inspiration dress and the fact that the pattern is centered on the dress means that it draws attention to the center of your body rather than the outline of it, which is very figure flattering.

For her jewelry we didn't get a tiara but we did get another outing of the matching set of diamond earrings and bracelet in a floral station pattern (and a matching necklace is said to exist as well).  These must have been the hardest thing of this look to find but if you are in need of a RepliKate of this set I think I have found it on Eve's Addiction.

I had previously tried to RepliKate the Anya Hindmarch "Maud" clutch with only so-so success but this Nina bag is absolutely dead one.  As soon as I have a reason, it will be mine.

During the search to complete this ensemble I realized exactly why the Duchess always wears one of two pairs of black satin pumps.  Good ones are hard to find and when you do find them, they are expensive.

These sharp pumps are the Badgley Mischka "Vision II" in Black Satin.  I own several pairs of Badgley Mischka shoes from my wedding and they are wonderful and worth the price if you are in the market for a pair.  They can be purchased for $104.99 from 6PM.com.

In the end I would probably only get the dress, since my cocktail moments are few and far between but with boots or leather pumps or your "Cosmic" RepliKates this dress would look great.  What pieces are you looking to add to your collection?

To cape or not to cape. That is the question.

               There's been a Duchess sighting!!! And it has me contemplating wearing a cape out in public.  Apparently in the UK there are multiple retailers that you can purchase a plaid cape from, but hat is not so true over on this side of the pond.  This was a hard one...

After much searching and hunting, I finally found what I was looking for from Land's End.

This reversible cape has a camel side and on the other, a great red and blue plaid (a bit less serious for us Yankees).  I m actually really in love with this look and once I can comfortably wear skinny jeans next winter I think that this may be what I rock to stay warm.

To RepliKate the Zara skinnies, the Old Navy "Rockstar" cut are a great option.  They come in a quite a few colors and at $25.00 you won't lose a lot of cheese to follow this trend.

While the picture is blurry down by her feet it looks as if she is could be wearing an ankle boot and if I had to guess once ones she was wearing, I would take a guess that she is wearing her Aquatalia brown booties.  I have loosely RepliKated these boots before, but I got an e-mail this weekend from MyHabit.com and these Calvin Klein booties popped up and come in more sizes than my Nine West RepliKate.

White Eyelet for the Spring

               As I was attempting to buy the pussy bow tie top that the Duchess wore for her first formal portrait, I decided to browse the French Connection site and was pleasantly surprised to find a great RepliKate for the bespoke McQueen broderie anglaise suit that Catherine wore on her last royal tour.

This white eyelet dress has a scoop neck neckline and a full pleated skirt.

She wore her sapphire drop earrings that have been RepliKated many times but for giggles I found one more that I think give a very close feel to hers even though they are not on a drop.

She carried her Stuart Weitzman navy suede clutch that coordinates with her Stuart Weitzman "Corkswoon" wedges.  There are many of us who wish to burn these shoes and I must admit that I am one of you as well.  Because of this her handbag and shoe "RepliKates" I found are more inspired by the Duchess rather than an exact match.  For spring I am feeling very drawn to nautical stripes and fun straw bags.

Geometric Prints to Liven Up You Work Wardrobe

               Today I have another favorite outfit from the South East Asia tour to share.  On her arrival to the Soloman Islands she wore a vibrant green and turquoise Jonathan Saunders dress with accessories from Russell & Bromley.

On a random search for a dress to wear to my office Christmas party I ran across the geometric dress from Kohl's.  While not an exact match (again- I do take liberties don't I?), the second that I saw it I thought of Catherine and her Jonathan Saunders dress.

In her ears she wore her Kiki McDonough green amethyst earrings (also know as prasiolite if you want to search on your own).  My first RepliKate is from a custom jewelry maker on eBay.  These are pretty much an exact match in real gold and stones.

The Duchess was also wearing a new set of matching shoes and clutch on this occasion.  What I have found in searching for RepliKates from US retailers that there are very few if any "sets" of items that can be purchased together.  While I think this should change immediately, that doesn't help us at this very moment.  So I went with my RepliKate for her "Sledge" pumps from LK Bennett and a new nude patent clutch.

The Duchess' Golden Disney Princess Moment

               We all waited with baited breath in anticipation of a tiara on the South East Asia tour and alas we received none- not even a non-tiara but diamond bauble moment.  But in the end Catherine stayed true to who she is and shined in Malaysia in what I like to call her "Disney Princess" moment.

In looking to RepliKate this look, I thought that I would never find a dress that came near but it only took searching two of my favorite dress stores to find the dress below.

Evening gowns with sleeves that aren't terribly matronly are hard to find so it is no surprise to me that I could get close to the fabric and idea of her dress but nothing exact.  That is just the perils of trying to RepliKate one of the Duchess' bespoke pieces.  This "Shimmering Polka Dot Evening Dress" is made by Decode 1.8 and can be purchased from edressme.com for $268.00.

The Pelle Moda "Flirty" Sandal in Platinum Gold is a dead-ringer for the Jimmy Choos that the Duchess wore.  They can be purchased for $149.95 at Nordstrom.com.

The finishing touch was her evening clutch.  She was carrying her Wilbur & Gussie clutch bag.  This was a hard one but I think the two pieces that I found when combined will look great.

               It has now rained for 4 days straight in my small section of the earth and everyday that I run into the office each morning I wished that I had a trench coat that was cute to wear instead of my utilitarian North Face jacket.

All this wishing brought me back to the when the Duchess wore her Ted Baker navy trench coat on the Canadian tour.
